Walking into work one crisp morning, I noticed something small and gray dart across the parking lot. A scrawny little cat, her fur matted, her eyes wide with fear, was crouched in the corner. She looked like she’d been through some things. My heart tugged a bit, but I kept moving. After all, I was late for a meeting, and she was just a stray.
But the next morning, there she was again, huddled near the door as if waiting for something—or someone. This time, I couldn’t resist. I broke off a little piece of my breakfast and gently set it down for her. She didn’t approach right away, just stared at me, suspicious. I gave her space, but as I turned to leave, I caught a glimpse of her inching toward the food, and I smiled.
The next day, I did the same. And the next. Soon, others in the office noticed the little gray cat. They started offering scraps of their own—bits of muffin, a slice of cheese here and there. Slowly, something amazing happened. That scared, skinny cat started trusting us. She would meow a greeting, her tail flicking with cautious curiosity, and eventually, she even ventured close enough to nuzzle our legs. She was no longer just the stray outside. She was our cat.

Isn’t this how it’s supposed to be with us and Christ? We’re often like that little gray cat—scared, uncertain, skeptical of what’s being offered. But little by little, through small acts of kindness and love, trust is built. The love of Jesus, poured out piece by piece, can soften the hardest hearts.
It’s not about grand gestures all the time, but about the small, consistent ones. A kind word here, a helping hand there, a moment of empathy when someone needs it most. These are the moments when we share the love of Christ. And as we do, just like that cat, people begin to trust more, to draw near, and eventually, they might just find the confidence to curl up at His feet.
That once-scrawny cat is now healthy, happy, and full of life. She’s become a living testimony to how small, intentional acts of kindness can transform not just an animal, but people too. And just like her, when we trust in Jesus, we become whole. Little by little, love changes everything.
So, next time you see someone who’s a little scared, a little lost, maybe a bit rough around the edges—be that small piece of kindness. You never know how far it’ll go. Trust Jesus, and watch the transformation unfold.
