Eco-friendly, wallet friendly and these last LONGER than those disposable ones! To make sure you’ll be able to use them for a long time, these have 2 layers and they are sewn together. The seams are on the inside of the pads (rather than on top of the outside of the fabric), so there are no rough edges! These wipes are easy to throw in the wash with your other towels! I made some for my college student and she loves them!
Finished Size: The pads are approximately 3″ by 3″.
Now, let’s see how to make a whole jar of these cute make-up remover wipes!
SUPPLIES: For each diy makeup remover pad, you’ll need:
- one 3 ½” square of flannel or cotton fabric
- one same-size terry cloth square, I used terry cloth but you can also simply cut up a used towel – for the ultimate upcycle ever!
What fabric is best for makeup wipes?
Preferably use fabric that can be washed in a hot cycle, and you have a lot of options: cotton, bamboo, terry (think towel) double-sided terry cloth, or really anything with natural fibers.
*I didn’t have any flannel handy when I made these, so I opted for some cotton scraps that I had leftover from another project. Flannel is my first choice! The cute flamingo fabric I used is from Joann Fabrics called Summer Loving Flamingo Fling
How to make DIY makeup remover wipes

Step 1- Cut the Squares
Cut squares sized to 3 ½” -you’ll need two per wipe piece: one from cotton and the other from terry cloth. I like making a little pattern by measuring and cutting the shape on cardstock or paper.

Step 2- Place the 2 pieces together right sides together
Place one cotton piece and one terry cloth piece on a flat surface, right sides together. (If your terry cloth is double sided, both sides will be ‘right sides’) Pin or use sewing clips to prevent the layers from shifting.

Step 3- Sew leaving a small opening for turning
Using a ¼” seam allowance, stitch around the square and leave a 1 ½” gap on one side for turning . Once sewn, clip the corners for a neater finish in the end.
Step 4- Turn right side out and press
Turn right side out through the opening, use a point turner to get the corners out (gently!) Press well, making sure the seam allowance on the gap is tucked inside. I like to clip the corners so trim the excess fabric.
Press each makeup wipe.

Step 5- Topstitch around the edges
Topstitch around using a ¼” up to ⅜” seam allowance. This will also close the turning gap. Done! Now, make as many as you want! Make a set, and then an extra one for gifting to send your friends a little “sursee”!

What makeup remover do I use with these wipes?
Well sister, that’s easy! use whatever you want! I use Cetaphil for my sensitive skin and it works great! Use your favorite brand cleanser.
